Lesson Horses

At Fox Point Farm, our lesson horses are very important to us. Great lesson horses are kept for their entire lives. Most of our lesson horses have been fancy show horses before they started here. Many were donated/free leased to us by owners who were moving on to a new horse or by owners who were looking for a better option than selling their beloved horse with no idea what the future might hold after the sale.

Most of our lesson horses are available for half and/or full leases. A lease allows a horse to enjoy one rider and have the 'feel' of a one-person horse. Half-leased horses enjoy the consistency of their main rider and do fewer additional lessons each week. If you are ready to take the next step into leasing, please ask Charlotte about your favorite horse!

Tardy

Tardy is a lovely 20+ yrs, 15.2h, bay tobiano, APHA mare. Tardy is a retired very famous western pleasure and halter horse shown by Jack, Joyce and Dwayne Fultz all over the country. Top Ten at the APHA World Show in Am Western Pleasure. Tardy loves attention and riding. She does basic walk/trot for both children and adults. She is a very special horse. Her image is even engraved on Jack's headstone. A special mare for special new riders!

Winnie

Winnie is a younger, 15h, sorrel tobiano, APHA mare. Winnie came into our family as a yearling the week before Christmas. She was started and shown in Western Pleasure, Reining, Roping, Jumping, Barrel Racing, Pole Bending and Hunter Under Saddle plus foxhunted by my son Will. She is a kind wonderful soul who is super quiet and super talented at everything she does. She will carry first-time riders through advanced competitors with style and ease!

Oreo

Oreo is another younger, 15h,  black overo, APHA mare. Oreo came in 2004 from her owners Ben Moore and family, for Charlotte to start under saddle. After getting started Ben took her home and extensively trailrode her until their trails were developed. His daughter, Jessica, who had been taking lessons on Sassey, moved onto Oreo and started showing her at the local hunter shows. She then moved up and started showing her at the regional APHA shows in the hunter classes successfully. Younger sister Natalie then took the reins and added the western events to Oreo too. Natalie won many high score awards on Oreo before moving up to her next horse. The Moore family has been generous enough to allow us to use Oreo for our students now. She is super for beginner through advanced riders.

Ace

Ace is another younger, 15.3h, palomino tobiano, APHA gelding. Ace arrived at FPF several years ago as the new mount for Avery Fisher on which start her APHA show career. He had some local open show mileage and training but Avery finished him and has shown him successfully all the way at the APHA World Show to Top Ten wins. Ace can do many events well, jumping and hunter under saddle are probably his favorites. Avery has shown him successfully in the pattern classes, barrel racing, pole bending and (locally) western pleasure too. Ace is big, beautiful and fun for all levels of riders! Ace is currently for sale for $8,500.

Dauntless

Dauntless is an older, 16.3h, seal brown, TB/Hanoverian gelding. Dauntless was given/loaned to FPF in 2005 from an old student/dear friend, Kendall Seig, from Charlottesville, VA. Kendall raised and showed Dauntless until she had her first child and her priorities changed. It was important to Kendall to know what was happening with her precious boy, so she chose to place him with us after a successful hunter career in VA which could have earned her a good 5 figure price had she chosen to sell him. Dauntless now rides both english and western and has his share of steadfast followers. Dauntless is looking for a half-leasor to share his time.

Sandy

Sandy is a younger, 15.1h, sorrel overo, APHA mare. Sandy is a brand new addition to FPF! Her owner has sent her to us to use and hopefully buy or sell to a student because of a death in the family. Sandy has been an awesome trailhorse prior to coming to FPF and arrives with a fabulous recommendation from our friend/farrier Brad Freeman. We look forward to getting to know Sandy better!
